In November 2025, Tavian Jeffery Wrighten moved from his hometown of Toledo, Ohio, to Columbus, Ohio, to begin a new chapter in his life. He got a new job, was paying off debts, volunteering with Columbus City Schools Food Bank, meeting new people, and doing whatever he could to better himself.
In March 2026, Tavian went to the Emergency Room in Columbus, Ohio, for trouble breathing, which he later found out was a heart attack. He then got a CT scan to see if there were any issues with his heart, and instead found some masses in his chest. We then got a PET scan done, and while waiting for the results to come back, Tavian fell and broke his left hip.
He went back to the hospital to get surgery to repair the hip, and got the results of the PET Scan. The masses in his chest and other parts of his body were found to be Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in multiple different places in his body. This includes the hip, which is why it broke so easily on the fall.
Tavian is currently in Chemotherapy and Radiation treatments in Columbus to destroy, shrink, or control cancer cells, often by damaging their DNA to prevent them from growing and dividing. He also has follow-up appointments and physical therapy for his hip.
We are currently asking for donations as Tavian navigates his life with this diagnosis at only 24 years old.
The money collected will go towards his medical bills, rent & utilities, transportation for appointments, groceries, and planning for the future.
We also have a benefit event coming up on June 14th, 2026, from 2-6 pm at The American Legion, 1074 Clarion Ave, Holland, OH 43528. Please help us support Tavian further on his journey as he does everything he can to overcome and beat this!
