My name is Tate. I am a Chicago based circus artist. I often joke about having a chronic illness but sometimes that “joke” becomes serious. I suffer from hyper mobile type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), a connective tissue disorder that wreaks havoc all throughout my body. A comorbidity of EDS that I suffered from is called POTS. It affects my heart rate and blood pressure. Recently i have been having heart palpitations and chest pain which landed me with quite the hospital bill (yay America). My doctors have ruled out a lot of scary stuff but i still need a few tests and a heart monitor to rule out more. I will also likely need PT to keep my POTS symptoms manageable enough to keep doing Circus.
I am currently at $3000 in bills which will likely double after all the testing that i need is done.
Asking people for help with my medical journey has been really hard for me and took weeks for me to even create this page. Donating to this go fund me is not just keeping out of debt, but helping get my health under control so i can continue to perform and teach youth all around Chicago.
I want to make sure that i am giving back to the community as well. I promise that whatever is raised, i will donate the equivalent value of my time with circus entertainment and classes to those who can’t otherwise afford it.
