My name is Tasha Lopez. I am 40 years old and a mama of 2. Unfortunately, I am getting ready to start on my second cancer journey. I was originally diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer back in April of 2021. I went through chemo and a double mastectomy. At that time, I had a work-from-home job and we lived in Colorado. Fast forward 4 years, we are now in Maryland and I have just found out my cancer is back and has metastasized to my lungs. I am now considered stage 4 and it is not curable. Treatment is going to consist of chemo every 3 weeks (6-8 rounds), targeted immunotherapy infusions every 3 weeks for the rest of my life or until they stop working.
I am a mama, a wife, a sister, a daughter, and an auntie. I am scared. I work full-time for a non-profit organization and will continue to work as much as possible, but I am worried about my family's financial security. I have already started missing a lot of work because I am constantly getting sick, which is how we found out it has come back. My treatment is an hour away, so there will be a lot of driving.
I am just looking for help for my family and me so that this disease does not take away more than we already know it will. Please, if you can, anything helps. Thank you.
