Taryn and I met when we were in 3rd grade. By 5th grade, we were best friends and never looked back. Countless sleepovers and summer trips. She helped me move into my college dorm. We worked together. Lived together. She stood beside me at my wedding. She showed up to meet each of my babies even though she lived hours away. Over the last 30 years, she has been there for my happiest days and my hardest days. She has the biggest heart and sees the best in everyone. If you are a part of her life, you know that you are loved - it’s apparent by her thoughtfulness and presence.
Taryn was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2020 and fought that battle for over 4 years. Her cancer was chemo-resistant, so she had to undergo many different treatment options, including immunotherapy, stem cell transplant, oral chemotherapy, and eventually a CarT therapy trial. She was finally put into remission in June of 2024. All of the treatments have caused her body permanent damage, such as congestive heart failure, lung disease, and neuropathy. Beginning in September 2024, she began having additional health problems caused by side effects of the years of cancer treatments. She has been hospitalized many times since then. She’s currently on supplemental oxygen, waiting on her lungs to heal, and she is awaiting surgery to remove her gallbladder. She is still unable to work, and we aren’t sure when she will be able to. Her medical bills continue to pile up. She struggles to pay her living expenses and to purchase the prescriptions and food she needs.
Taryn doesn’t ever ask for help, but right now she needs it. So I’m asking for her. Please donate if you feel led. And if you aren’t in a place to donate, please share.
