I'm Mark Mariucci, co-owner of The Tarlton Theatre with my friend and business partner Tarl Knight.
Tarl recently lost the transmission in his beloved blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The repair will cost about $4,000 and will be in great hands with Ness Auto Service. Tarl has chosen to repair his truck with a new transmission, as a new transmission will last longer than a used truck and transmission.
As some of you know, Tarl is a full-time volunteer and spends almost all of his professional and personal time working to improve our downtown and our city. With his permission, I'm asking our friends and neighbors for your support to put Tarl back on the road.
Tarl's truck is his only vehicle, which he drives in his numerous roles as:
- owner and creative director of our live music and performing arts venues, The Tarlton Theatre, At The Tracks, and The Truck Yard At The Tarlton,
- director of Shipyard District, Inc. and festival director of All Bands On Deck,
- chairman of Green Bay Neighborhoods,
- vice president of Seymour Park Neighborhood Association,
- vice president of Shipyard Neighborhood Association,
- vice president of Tank Neighborhood Association,
- board member with the Green Bay Film Festival,
- board member with the Green Bay Jazz Orchestra, and
- commissioner with Green Bay Traffic, Bicycle & Pedestrian Commission.
Both Tarl and I continue to invest our available personal funds in our businesses and nonprofit organizations, leaving Tarl in a difficult position to pay for his sudden truck repair.
Tarl was recently elected chairman of Green Bay Neighborhoods, which is an unpaid, volunteer position which requires an immense amount of time and travel in which his truck is vital. Tarl visits and supports dozens of neighborhoods throughout the city on a regular basis. For his new Grooves On The Green concert series throughout Green Bay parks, Tarl transports tents, tables, and chairs to connect with neighbors.
Tarl also serves as the director of Shipyard District, Inc. (which is also an unpaid, volunteer position) and festival director of All Bands On Deck, the city's largest music festival, which produces a direct financial impact of over $100,000 annually in spending in district businesses. He transports sound systems, instruments, and supplies throughout the Shipyard District.
In his neighborhood associations, Tarl transports street furniture, pianos for Keys to the City, and landscaping materials for neighborhood signs and other community projects – and all with his truck.
Despite all of his impressive titles, and despite his volunteer impact on our arts, cultural, and neighborhood community being second to none, the truth is Tarl lives on a very modest income. He has contributed so much to Green Bay, so I'm asking our friends and neighbors to contribute $10, $25, $50, or as much as possible to put Tarl back on the road with his truck so he continues to improve our community.
