Hello, friends, family, and caring strangers. My name is Tara, and I am reaching out on behalf of my niece, who has been a proud resident of Dawson Springs for over 30 years. Her home—miraculously spared by the tornadoes that recently tore through our community—was left in ruins by a historic flood, resulting in a total loss of both the house and her cherished belongings.
Although she has homeowners and personal property insurance, she did not have flood insurance. We’re still waiting to hear whether her insurance will cover any portion of the damage. In the meantime, the road to recovery—cleaning up, repairing extensive damage, and figuring out how to move forward—feels daunting and overwhelming.
UPDATE!!!!!
My niece and husband received wonderful news from their insurance company. Although there was no flood coverage their insurance policy paid in full. They have also been blessed with information that a church will be providing them with certain appliances and furniture once they secure a new home.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to raise $15,000, which will go directly toward:
A payment on a new home, ensuring my niece and her family have a safe place to live
Replacing essential household items and personal belongings lost in the flood
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help my niece take the next step toward rebuilding her life. If you can’t donate, sharing her story with your friends and family is another powerful way to help.
Thank you for reading and for lending your support in any way you can. We are grateful for every prayer, kind thought, and donation during this difficult time.
With gratitude and hope,
Tara Roberts
