I am one of Tanya's daughters, Mallory. On 11/8/2025 at 1pm, my mom suffered a devastating accident and broke both of her ankles (one in multiple places), leaving her completely unable to walk, stand, or care for herself. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment/ recovery and surgery. She was recently transferred to a nursing care facility for intensive PT and daily care. Unfortunately, the road ahead is long, painful, and financially overwhelming. We are unsure of how long she will be in the nursing care facility but her insurance will only cover the first 20 days of care at 100%. After speaking with the care facility we have learned that Days 21 and on, she is responsible for a co-payment cost of $209.50 a DAY.

When she is eventually discharged, she may have ongoing nursing care that will be required for a full recovery. Much of which will likely come with additional costs. She will also need equipment at home to help her adjust to everyday, independent life. We have a care team meeting in early December to discuss this further.

The cost of $209.50 per day, equipment, plus potential home care after discharge, is more than our family can manage alone. Depending on how long her recovery takes, these expenses could reach thousands of dollars. We do not know if she qualifies for financial aide yet but if she does, it does not pick up until day 30 which is 10 days of payments out of pocket. We are reaching out for help so my mom can focus on healing instead of the financial burden.
