On the night of May 22, 2024 in Augusta County, VA, my mother, Tanya Hostetter, had a large hemorrhagic stroke in the front left part of her brain causing her to lose her speech and all movement of her right side. Tanya was ground transported to Augusta Health and then flown by Pegasus to UVA. She was in the ICU for weeks then moved to UVA’s rehab hospital, Encompass, for a few more weeks. I, Christine, her youngest daughter has been fighting with Tanya’s insurance about covering the 24/7 skilled nursing care and the therapies (speech, occupational, and physical) that she desperately still needs! She is making progress and these first few months are the most important. If insurance continues to deny mom the care she needs we will have to pay out of pocket..the current facility believes they can help mom but it will be $12,000/month for her to stay..being in fire/rescue I have been in multiple different nursing homes in the valley..most smell of urine and feces and the care provided is horrible..if mom is to continue improving we will need the money for the current care and therapy to continue happening..if we can’t raise enough for Bridgewater I will look at other facilities or try to figure out how in home care would be possible..her current house would need LOTS of work to make it accessible for her current needs. Also mom is not eligible for medicaid. Please help if you can. Anything helps.
