Support Tanner's Journey to Recovery

Hi all,
As you may or may not know my beautiful 23 year old daughter Tanner has had a pretty rough year health wise. With over a year of worsening back pain and after exhausting all other options she made the decision to have back surgery April 2, 2024. The herniated disc in her L5-S1 vertebrae had gotten so severe she was experiencing debilitating pain and weakness along with numbness in her legs and feet. She continued to work hard through her pain at Beechnut kennels where she is kennel tech. She was hopeful and excited to return to work and resume her life once she healed. Given her young age her doctors estimated she could return to work 6 to 8 weeks post op and should feel instant relief after surgery.
Unfortunately, none of that has happened. After surgery her pain levels were higher than prior to the procedure so after another trip to the er on April 3rd it was discovered on MRI an epidural hematoma. This meant a second surgery just 24 hours after the 1st. She was hospitalized for days and suffered other post operative complications. She continued to have high pain levels but was discharged after 5 days. After week 3 post op she had a more active day that included walking and sitting. By the following evening the pain was intolerable and I took her back to the ER.
After another 5 days in hospital we still have no answers for why she is still suffering. Her surgeon has no answers for her for why she hurts still and has shifted to medically gaslighting her pain as anxiety and "go to PT"and don't get addicted to the meds.
All we can do right now is pain management and physical therapy. She will be working hard to regain her strength and hopefully find some relief.
This has been difficult time and she is lucky to have people in her life that love and support her. I appreciate all the love you've surrounded her with. With the amount of discomfort she is currently in Tanner will not be able to work for the foreseeable future and Jake, Donnie and I are helping her the best we can with bills. We will be helping her to apply for temporary disability to give her more time to heal herself. Without knowing how long that process will take we are hoping this fund may help her pay her bills. The stress over finances and being able to show up for her sisters wedding activities has her very worried. To ease some worry we are humbly asking for help. Whatever it's in you to give, times are tough and we understand if you could share this post our family would appreciate it.
Thank you
