In early December 2024, Tanner’s life changed forever when a catastrophic bull riding accident shattered his vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed. Emergency airlifted to a Dallas ICU, Tanner fought through critical moments with resilience. After eight intense weeks, he stabilized and was transported to a rehabilitation facility in Houston, where he continues to work toward recovery for the next 5 weeks. His journey will be long—expected to take at least two years—with lifelong challenges ahead.

Tanner’s adventurous spirit has left a lasting mark on everyone he’s met. Whether you knew him as a whitewater rafting guide, trail partner, or the Kalamazoo Cowboy chasing his bull riding dreams, Tanner’s infectious energy, love for nature, and unwavering positivity have touched countless lives.

With both parents deceased, Tanner’s oldest sister, Brooke, has stepped in as his caregiver and advocate. She and her husband Thom, who built their life in Austin raising two sons, are selling their family home to purchase an accessible property for Tanner’s needs. Their youngest son is even changing his college plans to pursue nursing and assist with Tanner’s care.

With Tanner's injury level, Tanner’s new home will need extensive renovations—ramps, handrails, and accessible spaces—while out-of-pocket medical expenses for specialized therapy, equipment, and long-term care continue to mount.
