Hi everyone,

My sister has been living with a rare kidney disease called FSGS, and end stage renal failure which leads to kidney failure. After three long years of feeling sick, exhausted, fighting through symptoms while raising her two children and working full-time, she finally reached the point where she needed a transplant.

Last Wednesday, I was blessed to be able to donate my kidney to her. It was one of the hardest but most meaningful experiences of our lives, and we are incredibly grateful the surgery was successful.

Although we are thankful to have made it through the procedure and are still recovering. The financial burden that comes afterward has been overwhelming. Her insurance did not cover the full cost of surgery, and she now requires multiple daily medications to protect the new kidney and keep her health stable. These medications are extremely expensive and will be part of her lifelong care.

As a mother and the heart of our family, she has always done everything she can for others. Now we are asking for a little help for her. Any amount big or small will go directly toward medical bills, medications, and helping her recover without the fear of financial strain.

Mi hermana ha estado viviendo con una enfermedad rara en los riñones llamada FSGS, que lentamente provoca insuficiencia renal. Después de tres largos años sintiéndose enferma, agotada y luchando contra los síntomas mientras cría a sus dos hijos y trabaja tiempo completo, finalmente llegó el momento en que necesitaba un trasplante.

El miércoles pasado tuve la bendición de poder donarle mi riñón. Fue una de las experiencias más difíciles pero más significativas de nuestras vidas, y estamos profundamente agradecidas de que la cirugía haya sido un éxito.

Aunque agradecemos haber superado el procedimiento, la carga financiera que viene después ha sido abrumadora. Su seguro no cubrió el costo total de la cirugía, y ahora necesita varios medicamentos diarios para proteger el nuevo riñón y mantener su salud estable. Estos medicamentos son muy costosos y serán parte de su cuidado de por vida.

Como madre y pilar de nuestra familia, siempre ha hecho todo lo posible por los demás. Ahora les pedimos un poco de ayuda para ella. Cualquier aportación —grande o pequeña— irá directamente a las cuentas médicas, los medicamentos y su recuperación, para que pueda sanar sin la preocupación del peso financiero.
