The team at Billion Oyster Project is sending love and support to our friend and colleague Tanasia Swift. Her family was involved in an apartment fire in Brooklyn on Sunday, February 4. The fire resulted in the heartbreaking loss of her uncle and sister, Malaysia Swift, who leaves behind 5 children.

Two family members, including her young nephew, are in critical condition, and her family is displaced due to the fire — compounding the emotional toll of this tragedy.

You may know Tanasia through her incredible work as Billion Oyster Project's Field Stations Program Manager, where she inspires New Yorkers to participate in the restoration and stewardship of NY Harbor. Please join us in showing Tanasia and her family that their community is here to support them as they heal from this devastating event.
