Tamra is my younger sister, and she is beginning her third year of treatment for stage 4 colon cancer. She and her husband have four young children—an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old, and twin 3-year-olds—who need their mom more than ever. Tamra’s husband has become her full-time caregiver, supporting her through every round of treatment while also caring for their kids. This has made it impossible for him to work, and the family continues to face mounting medical bills and living expenses as Tamra fights on.
The funds raised will help relieve the financial stress that has built up over the years. They will allow Tamra’s husband to keep caring for her and their children, keep food on the table and a roof over their heads, and cover the cost of treatment that insurance doesn’t cover. This includes frequent ER visits, regular and frequent doctor appointments, and the gas needed to get to those appointments. Every bit of support will help Tamra focus on her health and her family, rather than the overwhelming financial burden.
Our family appreciates all of the support Tamra has received over the last three grueling years of treatment. When she first learned about her diagnosis, the five-year survival rate was disheartening and scary. Tamra needs to continue to fight to be here with her kids, and she is incredibly brave to undergo another round of chemo despite the extremely severe side effects. She has already experienced sepsis multiple times, anaphylactic shock, tumors the size of cantaloupe, and a multitude of other challenges few would expect from a 30-year-old patient. Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, means the world to us and gives Tamra hope to keep fighting.
