Support Tammy’s Fight Against ALS & Live Life To Its Fullest

Donation protected
Tammy Fonseca, a sister, a best friend, a daughter, an aunt, a wife, and a mom to Ella, has been diagnosed with Bulbar ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). After being diagnosed with Covid in November 2023, she began to notice her throat and voice were not healing properly. We all thought it was a side effect. After appointments with an ENT, speech pathologists, and neurologists, she was diagnosed with ALS – a rare disease.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease in which the brain loses connection with the muscles. There is no cure and once diagnosed, life expectancy is 2-5 years. Medications can help slow down and ease the symptoms but nothing will halt the progression. The Fonseca’s have an extremely tough road ahead of them and they need your help with the average cost of out-of-pocket care of $80,000 - $250,000+ a year.

Tammy was a nanny for many years. She has positively impacted many children’s lives. Tammy was the best due to her creativity, adventurous outings, and great baking skills. She always makes the best cakes and treats for the holiday parties. However, her career changed post pandemic. Tammy and her husband Steve, became proud business owners. They opened Time Capsule Antiques and More in Plaistow, NH. During her downtime in the store she taught herself to crochet and now makes a wide array of items to sell from plants and animals to holiday decorations.

Tammy is kind, compassionate, and always trying to make others happy. Her daughter, Ella (15) is her best friend and they have an unbreakable bond. Family time has always been important to both Tammy & Steve. They spend their days at the beach, finding antiques for the store, going to the movies, and just enjoying one another’s company. Tammy & Steve will be celebrating 20 years this year! They continue to be each other’s rock throughout the ups & downs of life and this is no exception.

Tammy is always putting others first and doesn’t like to ask for help. This is the time we all need to put Tammy first and help get her home accessible. Immediate needs include replacing her shower to a walk-in, a stairlift to get up and down the stairs where her bathroom & bedroom are located, and an electric portable wheelchair so she can still enjoy outings with her family. The list will unfortunately grow with in-home care, therapies and medications that are not covered by insurance but we want to set her up the best we can for battling ALS. One of Tammy’s biggest stressors is the financial part of this disease. The more we can help relieve that stress the better so she can focus on living each day to the fullest. Tammy has spent her life dedicated to taking care of others, now it is our turn to help take care of her. Any donation will greatly be appreciated!
