Support Tammy Green's Battle with Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is Erin, and I'm opening this go fund me page. Tammy is very uncomfortable with it, but as her best friend of 40 years, I know best! As some of you may or may not know, a few weeks ago, they found an enlarged lymph node in Tammy’s left armpit. After an ultrasound and a biopsy, it was discovered that Tammy has HER2 positive invasive breast cancer that has metastasized to the lymph nodes. It has been a whirlwind of appointments, procedures, and tests since she got the results back. She then had to have a CT scan, bone scan, PET scan, Brain MRI, breast MRI, 2 ultrasounds, 2 more core needle biopsies, a port put in. She will undergo 6 rounds of chemo for 5 months, surgery, radiation, then infusions every 3 weeks for another year.

Timing could not be worse as she is a dedicated teacher and school started a few weeks after diagnosis. Per her doctor's advice, she should not work during chemo and seeing as she only has 31 sick days, it will be difficult for her to pay her bills, take care of her son as a single mother, and pay medical bills throughout next summer. She will use FMLA for 30 days, short term disability but will only be paid a smaller percentage of her salary for 90 calendar days, then long term disability for an unknown amount of time. After STD, all days taken off will be unpaid, and Tammy will have to pay into her health insurance. There will be a LOT of days she will need to take off. Aside from being off of work for chemo/surgery through January/maybe February, she will need daily radiation treatments for 5 1/2 weeks, as well as ongoing immuno therapy drug infusions every 3 weeks till most likely September 2025.

Since this type of cancer is aggressive, they needed to start treatment immediately. As you can imagine, Tammy is terrified of everything to come. Let's ease at least some of her money burden. Any amount will help. Tammy plays many roles as a mother, daughter, friend, aunt, teacher and is wonderful at all of these roles. Let's show her how much we all love her!
