Tammaka is a regionally and nationally celebrated poet, community activist, and wellness practitioner who needs YOUR HELP to secure safe housing!
On Thursday June 12th, 2025 Tammaka was attacked and bitten by her neighbor’s dog unprovoked while walking out to their shared backyard to pray. This dog has been an issue in the past that Tammaka has spoken to the owner about and they thought the issue was resolved then. However, Tammaka spotted the dog being held by the owner's small child on a leash when the leash slipped out of the child's hand and the dog quickly ran towards Tammaka. They spoke to the owner individually on the day of the attacked hoping to rectify the problem communally, and asked for a permanent removal of the animal. The owner agreed that the dog would be removed the following week of the attack, yet Tammaka has heard the dog barking inside the owner’s apartment, which is directly attached to hers, several weeks after making the agreement. Tammaka spoke with the owner again-insisting they handle the problem without outside forces-and the owner refused to accept any advice Tammaka gave for a safe and swift removal. The dog is still currently present in the owner’s home. The owner has also displayed no compassion and has been completely dismissive of Tammaka’s safety and injuries received during the dog attack. Tammaka’s mental health and overall well-being has been negatively shifted due to this act of violence, and they no longer feel safe living there.
Tammaka is now seeking support for mental health services and a move to a safer community with better pet practices. Please share and give as abundantly as you are able! Any and all support is deeply appreciated. Asé!
