Support Tami to Protect Her Remaining Vision After Sudden Vision Loss

Our dear friend Tami has always been the one to tirelessly support others — generous, kind, and never one to ask for help. But now, she needs us more than ever.

Recently, Tami experienced a sudden and devastating loss of vision in one eye due to a diagnosis of NAION (Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy) a rare condition that causes permanent damage to the optic nerve. There is no known treatment for NAION, and the fear of losing vision in her remaining eye has turned her world upside down. Determined to protect her other eye, Tami is courageously pursuing every promising avenue to support her recovery and eye health including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, and red-light therapy. Unfortunately, none of these treatments are covered by insurance, and the costs are quickly adding up, along with transportation and other medical expenses.

These therapies and studies give Tami the best chance to preserve her remaining vision and regain her strength. Let’s come together to ease her financial burden so she can focus fully on healing. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference and show Tami that she’s not alone in this journey.

For those of you who don’t know Tami, she is a gifted artist, poet, journalist, and a truly remarkable woman who has overcome great challenges since birth. Born with a disability, she has navigated life with strength and grace, walking confidently with her right prosthetic leg — her loyal companion. Now, as she faces the loss of sight in her right eye, she may need more assistance in the future to stay independent and continue sharing her creativity with the world.

Update: A Love Note From Tami

Dear friends,

Below is a personal note from Tami:

"Thank you so much for being such a meaningful part of my care and support during this incredibly difficult time. It’s now been a bit over a month since I was diagnosed and almost two months since I lost vision in my right eye. Because of you I’ve been able to chase the light and do all I can to protect the vision in my left eye and try all I can to do treatments that my medical team has approved hoping for my right eye. In the weeks and months ahead I will keep doing all I can with your continued prayers, contacts, help, and friendship near and far. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and I appreciate you being part of my circle"
