We have just learned that Tami was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Below is a heartfelt message from Tami's daughter Richelle.

"My mom has always been a beacon of kindness, taking care of those less fortunate than herself and giving selflessly, even when she had little to give. She is the strongest, most selfless person I know.

Recently, my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after months of unanswered questions and immense struggle. During this time, she has been unable to work, making it impossible to support my younger siblings and keep up with rent, utilities, and other essential bills.

Now that she’s starting treatment, we face an uncertain future, both medically and financially. Any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this fundraiser—will help ease the financial burden so my mom can focus on her health and being there for her children.

Hello everyone. I am reaching out to all of you: family, friends, acquaintances, and kind souls who would love to help someone in her hour of need. My friend Tami Velez, mother of five, friend to all, and the woman who was always there for everyone else when they needed something, has fallen ill and desperately needs your help.

I want to tell you a few things about Tami first, so you can know her a little bit like I do. I've known Tami for 33 years, and I've seen her go through some pretty hard times, and she's always leaned on her faith to help her get through them. A month after having her youngest child, her husband tragically passed away in a car accident while on his way home. This devastated her completely, but she persevered and ended up raising her children alone. Not only did she raise her own, but she took in another child as well. Tami was always there when someone needed something, whether it be a safe place to call home, a bag of groceries, or a shoulder to lean on. She was always helping others and did it out of the goodness of her heart. No matter how bad things got, she never turned someone away when they asked for help, because she knew how hard life could get and always felt that if she could help them in some small way, it could make their problems just a little easier for them to handle. That's the person I've known for over 33 years, and she hasn't changed at all. She's one of the best people I know, and she's one of the best friends a person could ask for. And now, my friend is ill and needs your help.

Tami has been very ill since October 4th. She's been to the hospital, seen multiple doctors, and had over 27 tests and procedures, yet her doctors are stumped as to what's wrong with her. She's in so much pain that she's been physically unable to work and has been in bed these past five weeks. She is the sole breadwinner and an independent contractor who has no sick leave or health insurance. This crisis has depleted all her savings, her bills are piling up, and her rent is coming due very soon. She not only needs your prayers but your support as well. Any help, no matter how small, would be a blessing for her right now and could prevent her from becoming homeless. I know life has been hard for everyone, especially this past year, but if you can find it in your heart to help Tami, I know it would help her out enormously while she goes through this scary medical crisis. I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity in aiding Tami during this difficult time in her life, and God bless you all.
