Hi, our names are Keely and Cristina and we are fundraising for our friend and neighbor Tami K. and her beloved pupper-doogie Hela, a sweet and gentle American Staffordshire.
We love Tami and Hela and want to help her cover her living expenses for the weeks that she will be unable to work. We want her to be able to keep her dog and her home.
Tami has suffered from epilepsy for 21 years and has been dealing with intractable seizures that have worsened in the last 6 months. Her seizures have been much more frequent and medications have required constant changes and have not been helping. She has a VNS device (Vagus Nerve Stimulator) implanted in her chest that has not been effective either. Basically, she has drug-resistant epilepsy.
When she seizes, Tami goes into asystole (she flatlines), and this week she needed to have a pacemaker implanted. She will be out of work for 6 weeks as she recovers from this surgery.
In September of 2024, she will be admitted to a hospital an hour away for a special brain testing procedure called SEEG (StereoElectroEncephaloGraphy) where she will have to remain for 6 weeks, unable to go home to Hela. The surgeons will implant leads into her brain to locate the source of the seizures and based on that result will plan surgery. Her surgery may turn out to be a partial lobectomy, a brain stem stimulation or RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation). RNS is a very invasive surgery that involves a battery powered device being placed in the part of the brain that is misfiring.
We hope that with your love, prayers and financial help, Tami and Hela will have one less
worry and will not lose their home.
Thank you for any amount that you are able to donate to Tami. We are really grateful for your help.
