Support Tami and Family After Larry's Loss

My name is Breonna, and I am the daughter of Larry and Tami Jones. My daddy, Larry Jones, passed away on February 14,2025. He was diagnosed with COPD in December 2023. He started to really struggle to breathe Jan-Feb 2024. He went to numerous doctors’ appointments and even wanted to be transferred to Birmingham in the hopes of a doctor there could help him. At one of daddy's ER visits, they found spots on his lungs. He was told he needed to make an appointment to see a pulmonologist. One was made ASAP. They only took scans every few months to see if the spots on his lungs grew in size. Even though the spots were a size that could be biopsied, they would not. Daddy smoked for many years and had a family history of lung cancer/disease. They still would not biopsy these spots. They said they weren't going to do this or that for something that probably wasn't cancer. We asked what the spots were.... they could not give us an answer. Not sure how they knew it wasn't cancerous if they had no idea what was showing on the scans. On December 4, 2024, I took my daddy to the ER. He had been having a rough few days struggling to breathe, his blood pressure extremely low, and his oxygen levels would be down in the 30-40's. Congestive Heart Failure. That was the first time we heard those words. Daddy was sent home and told to follow up ASAP with his cardiologist and pulmonologist. Daddy had a cardiologist appointment mid-January. They did a stress test and echocardiogram. His follow up appointment was February 11th. Daddy was told that his left side of his heart looked good, but his right side was constricted and not pumping. The cardiologist gave my momma a copy of daddy's echocardiogram and told her to give that straight to the pulmonologist at his next appointment on February 19th. Daddy asked the cardiologist that day if there was a pill he could give him to help him breathe. My daddy was sent home! HOME! He passed away 3 days later and never made it to that pulmonologist appointment for them to review the echocardiogram! Doctors failed my daddy! My daddy has worked hard his whole life. He worked 3 jobs for many years to provide for his family. My momma, sister, and I were always taken care of. My momma has a heart condition and draws disability. My daddy retired at the age of 65. He continued to work after retirement. My niece, Jayda, 18, has lived with them since she was born and my parents adopted her at the age of 5. My nephew, Mason, 16, and my parents have had full time for the past 7 years. Even before that, they took care of him. My daddy continued to work to make ends meet and to provide for his two younger children, Jayda and Mason. He loved those two as his own...and he was their daddy as my mom is their momma. He worked up until 4 months before his passing when his body no longer would allow him to do so. My daddy is the one who had the income coming into their house. My momma's monthly disability checks are barely enough to cover groceries for a week. Losing my daddy has been one of the hardest things we've had to go through. We are still grieving the loss of my daddy as it's only been 2 weeks since we lost him and a week since we said our final goodbyes and laid his body to rest. On top of the grief comes bills and funeral/burial costs. My daddy had a small life insurance policy, and we still owe quite a bit to his funeral and other expenses. I am trying to ease the burden on my momma by creating this go fund me. Any donations will go to my momma. She has two kids still to raise. Jayda is a senior in high school and Mason a sophomore. These funds will ease the burden and help us finish paying for daddy's funeral and other expenses. My daddy never liked to ask for help...my momma either. I am also not one to ask for help, but I am not asking on my behalf. I am asking for my momma, my niece, and nephew that are under my momma’s care. My husband and I help as much as we can, but we unfortunately do not have the funds needed. Any and all donations are very much appreciated. If you can't donate, please, please, pray for my family and me. We are hurting! We are hurting so badly and struggling with accepting the fact we lost our daddy and husband. From my family and I, we send all our love to every one of you. Thank you.
