Hey everyone, I am sharing this on behalf of my mom, Tamera.

Even though you’d never suspect it, these last few months have been incredibly difficult for her. Just before Thanksgiving, she went in for a routine exam with her doctor, with only a concern of extreme fatigue. After imaging and biopsies, she was diagnosed with high-grade metastatic urothelial carcinoma, stage 4; a highly aggressive type of cancer that moves very quickly. Since her initial scans in November, it has already spread to her lungs.

Thankfully, we were able to connect her with the best care team possible, and she qualifies for a clinical trial, but it is in Boston. This means she and my grandmother (Nana) will be traveling from Maine to Boston weekly for infusion treatments, follow-up appointments, and scans.

Anyone who knows my mom knows that she has never been the type to ask for help and knows this does not come easily to her. She has remained the most positive person and so so strong through all of this. She has given me permission to reach out to friends and family to ask for help. She has continued to work (and will continue to work as long as her body allows her to), but we want her to not have to worry about the financial strain that comes with treatment. Funds raised here will help cover travel, gas, food, lodging, and everyday bills and will hopefully allow her to focus on her health and take a breath when she needs it.
