We are raising funds to support our friend Trent Busscher and his wife, Tamara, as they navigate the road to recovery following a serious head-on car accident that has deeply impacted their lives.

Tamara is someone who loves the outdoors. She spends her free time hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, and going on adventures with their two dogs, Hooch and Waylon. Their dogs have always been a huge part of their family. Tragically, Hooch did not survive the accident. The loss has been incredibly hard, as their dogs have always been a huge and cherished part of their family.

Since the collision, Tamara has undergone multiple major surgeries and continues to recover from significant injuries. She survived a life-threatening injury to her aorta that required the placement of a stent graft. She also required surgery related to severe circulation issues in both legs and an additional procedure to correct complications affecting blood flow.

Tamara is now living with the effects of a traumatic brain injury and ongoing concussion symptoms. She experiences persistent headaches, sensitivity to light and noise, vision impairment and chronic pain in her back, neck and knees. Struggling with everyday tasks has added another hurdle to an already difficult recovery.

After spending considerable time confined to bed due to pain, she has only recently been able to begin treatments to support her recovery. She is now attending vision therapy, physiotherapy for post-concussion rehabilitation and strength, as well as massage therapy, acupuncture, and counselling.

During this time, her husband has needed to step away from work to help care for her and manage their day-to-day needs. Unfortunately, insurance has covered little of the specialized care and rehabilitation required for injuries of this nature, creating significant financial strain for their family.

We are hoping to come together as a community to help ease some of this burden so they can focus on Tamara’s healing and gradual return to independence.
