Talita Tavares is a remarkable, intelligent, and upbeat woman who relocated from Brazil to Canada in 2021 in search of a better life. Currently residing in Victoria, BC, she recently completed her postgraduate diploma at UVIC. In 2024, she is fulfilling the criteria for her Permanent Residency after a stressful and committed journey to reach this milestone. Since her arrival, Talita has worked hard to build a wonderful community of friends, offering them love and constant support.

In October, Talita was diagnosed with Extranodal NKiller T Cell Lymphoma and promptly started a rigorous treatment program that is expected to last at least six months. Despite the difficulties ahead, her determination shines through. Unfortunately, the nature of her treatment means she will be unable to work during this time. Employment Insurance (EI) will provide half of her usual income, yet this assistance still falls short of covering her essential living expenses. In addition to her regular costs during treatment, Talita will face substantial expenses once her treatment concludes.

We're asking for your support to cover expenses that EI's coverage doesn’t fully address, as well as to assist her with living costs during this treatment phase. Any funds raised will ensure she has everything necessary for her care after treatment.

The battle against cancer is incredibly difficult, and additional financial strains can make recovery feel even tougher. Talita’s warmth, strength, and determination have inspired countless people, and now it’s our turn to unite and lighten her load during this difficult period, reminding her that a supportive community stands with her. Each contribution, whether large or small, genuinely helps Talita concentrate on what’s most important: her recovery.
