Hi, I’m Takyla.

I’ve already completed two full years of college, and I’m about to start my junior year as a nursing student. I’ve worked hard every semester, kept my grades up, served on the Black Student Union eBoard, and stayed focused on my goal of becoming an ICU nurse.

But right now, I can’t afford to pay for this upcoming semester — or the next. It’s totaling around $5,000 and without help, I may be forced to leave school.

I don’t have the money I need, but I do have the passion, the discipline, and the drive. I’ve come way too far to stop now. This degree means everything to me — it’s my future. My mom is trying her hardest to get the money, and I’ve already took out loans, and receive the max funding from NIU
