Hello! My name is Jayson Lowe, I am a young artist driven by a passion for storytelling, using film for an exploration of artistic expression and subjective emotion to fulfill it as an art-form. My inspiration comes from a love for visual storytelling that pushes creative boundaries, blending surrealism, striking imagery and authentic narratives.
To bring this vision to life, I have dedicated myself to crafting and creating a distinct visual style for myself through creative concept photography, which is showcased in the cover photos. My goal is to fully express film as its truest art film in an industry where it has been made a business solely for profit and revenue, eliminating it of its artistic potential. A big step into this journey is with my short film I will be directing, called Take Your Wings Off.
What is Take Your Wings Off?
Take Your Wings Off follows a tale of young love, and the dangers it brings upon within many young groups. Depicting the themes of Love, Sacrifice, Commitment, and Fate. Executed with two characters, on a date in a singular room. In this surreal world, an innocent, sweet lady, Galah, a literal angel with luscious white wings, is on a date with a caring yet manipulative Vampire, Falcon. Galah and Falcon are seen to be a perfect couple, they love each other greatly, believing to be one another soulmates. As they confess to each other that they are ready to commit their love forever, Falcon mentions that in order for them to be able to certify their love for eternity and truly be together forever, he would have to bite her with his vampire fang, which would ultimately kill Galah. Falcon biting Galah with his fangs would send her to the afterlife, where she can wait for him.
Galah is now faced with the difficult decision of Life or Love. As any person would, she wants to live, but she feels tangled within Falcon's love. This is when we begin to journey through the ultimate theme of Love and Sacrifice. What decision may Galah make? Can she escape Falcons Love? Is Galah's sacrifice truly worth it? and who is going to sacrifice themselves in the end?
All these questions asked throughout the film can be self-reflected through many young teenagers. With decision and contemplation of commitment. Galah represents a thought within all of us. For visual representation of the film, the cover photos are photography concepts taken by me, representing the themes of the film and mood.
Why fund this film?
Independent filmmaking is a challenging journey, but it thrives on the support of people who believe in fresh, original voices in cinema. This film is a labor of love, and every contribution goes directly into bringing this vision to life, not just for me, but for the crew members dedicated to their craft, who work hard to be showcased as talented artists. This film is meant to spread a message to many young teenagers struggling in toxic relationships and emotional challenges. This film is meant to help them cope with self-reflection and decision, having a safe space to go to when in need of connection.
Whether it is securing location, building perfect set design, equipment, or ensuring the young crew members and cast have the resources they need to deliver their best work, your support not only funds this project but helps emerging filmmakers take a step toward their goals and passion in this industry.
Thank You So Much to anyone donating, every dollar is appreciated and will contribute to the spread of the message, support of young artists, and quality resources to showcase our best work!
