Support Tarik Al Jdide

Dear donors,

As you may have seen on the news, on Friday October 9th, an explosion caused by a fuel tank inside a Beirut building in the neighborhood of Tarik Al Jdide killed 4 people, and wounded 59 - of which 32 are children. Here is a short video (YouTube Video) you can watch depicting the explosion and explaining some of its repercussions.

This explosion continues to threaten the livelihood of the entire country, as Friday’s blast was one of the latest in a series of terrible events in a country hit with an unprecedented economic crisis and a lack of basic public services. Several fires have broken out at Beirut’s port after a cataclysmic blast on August 4th killed 203 people, injured at least 6,500 others and ravaged swathes of the capital, causing damage worth billions of dollars. Additionally, in other parts of Lebanon, wildfires have erupted in the past few days across its forests amid a heatwave, displacing hundreds of families.

Our fundraiser’s aim is to channel donations from our global family to Baytak Bayti, a local initiative that will be taking care of the restoration works at damaged houses (Baytak Bayti). The initiative aims to provide support for families whose houses are in poor conditions affecting their ability to lead a decent life. The project helps by securing their basic household needs - including appliances, furniture, etc. - and provides maintenance and house repairs where needed. Houses’ conditions are assessed by Baytak Bayti’s professional team and restoration and rehabilitation assistance is provided accordingly.

The project started with a few families in Beirut, and your support will allow it to grow and expand in order to help as many families as possible across Lebanon.

As little as USD 20 can support an affected family, making your dollar invaluable to our campaign. Together with our global Lebanese family, we can help rebuild.

With love, from a group of global Lebanese friends, we thank you for your generosity!
Adnan, Mohammad, and Lyne
