Hi Everyone! My name is Allison and I am a volunteer working with feral cat colonies in central New Jersey.

I would love for you to meet Tag.

Tag is a sweet little girl with a very big problem. I trapped her in the spring. Her little tongue sticking out is adorable, isn’t it?

Well, it’s actually the problem. Apparently, Tag either had some sort of a crush injury as a kitten, or she was born with a deformity. She cannot open her jaw. She is able to lick pate and drink water.

The poor little thing cannot even meow; she does this cute little moan thing.

Anyway, we took her to the vet who did x-rays and suggested a dental specialist. Tag cannot be spayed because she cannot be intubated with her jaw locked.

A couple of months ago, we noticed her tongue swelling. Turns out as she grew, her tongue was getting caught on her bottom tooth and it created a hole which started to get infected. So, the vet removed her bottom canine tooth to allow her tongue to heal and move more freely, and it worked!

But, we are still in limbo with regard to the dental specialist and getting her jaw unlocked (if possible) and getting her spayed.

I know a lot of my friends and family are animal lovers and I hope everyone will spread this far and wide to help Tag!!
