On Monday, 1/13/25, I (Tae) and a few friends of mine went to Doe Run Lake to go sledding. If you have ever been to or seen the hill leading up to Doe Run, you know how big it is. We all were having a great time going down the big hill until someone came to go sledding as well. It was an older gentleman and a woman; they had big snow tubes. We all waited and were watching to see him go down in the tube. We all figured he would fly down the hill and it would be very fun. Well, after a while of him debating, he asked if anyone would like to be the guinea pig. Me being the adventurous person I am, I agreed. I sat down, and then the next thing you know, I was given a push down the hill. I was not in control of the snow tube at all, and my eyes could not keep up with how fast I was going. That’s when I felt nothing but cold snow in my face. I had run into the 3 concrete pylons sticking out of the snow back first. I immediately couldn’t feel my legs and couldn’t breathe. In the moment, I had no clue what had happened. Not until my friends reached me. Immediately after I caught my breath, I told them that something wasn’t right. I ended up going to the hospital where they told me I had fractured my L3 & L4 vertebrae in my spine. I do not know how long I will be out of work nor how long my recovery will be. I have 2 puppies and live on my own. I rely on myself for support. So, I am asking for anything; every little bit helps, even just sharing! Thank you.
