Hello Everyone!

My name is Drew and I am the founder and currently run the Tacoma Photo Center. If you aren't familiar with our organization, we are a 501(c)3 non-profit community arts space. We have a firm belief that giving our community a safe place to learn and think and create art is very important.

The arts and creativity are fundamental to all people of all ages. Because of this, we strictly adhere to a pay-what-you-can model and open our space to anyone in our community who wants to learn and explore their own creativity.

We offer a variety of classes and workshops, for free, to our community. And we are happy to help provide instructions, facilities, and equipment to any arts practice people want to explore in our space.

In conjunction with this, we offer some creative and film processing services to the public, including film development and scanning. These services help fund our continuing mission to provide low and no-barrier arts education to our community.

So why are we fundraising?

This fundraiser is multifunctional. Firstly, to address the elephant in the room, the landscape for the non-profit world has shifted in the last few months. Some finances that were available to support us are now gone, and some new ones have come up.

Primarily, we have always been a grassroots, community-funded org, so we are asking for support.

Money donated to us is to help us expand some services and offerings. We want to expand into digital photography and increase our scanning speed and capacity. We need general operating support, as the center sometimes funds itself, but frequently is partially funded by me and work that I perform outside of the center.

Our goal going into a third year is to find more sustainability and to finalize some stations and facilities for our community to utilize.
