Hello, my name is Star Dudley, and this is my daughter, Tabitha.

Tabitha was born with a rare condition called arthrogryposis, which causes joint stiffness and muscle weakness. Throughout her young life, she has undergone numerous surgeries to improve her mobility and quality of life.

On February 27, 2025, Tabitha underwent a life-altering procedure: a bilateral leg amputation. Due to the way her legs developed, her knees were unable to bend, causing her daily pain and severe discomfort. Her medical team presented us with two options: undergo a complex surgery to break and reposition the legs, which would result in her being wheelchair-bound permanently or opt for amputation, with the hope of learning to walk using prosthetics.

As her mother, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to face. But at just 12 years old, Tabitha made the incredibly brave decision to stop living in constant pain and choose the second option amputation and prosthetics.

I’m proud to say that her surgery was successful, and she is currently recovering well. However, we recently learned that her current insurance does not cover the cost of her prosthetics. We are in the process of exploring other insurance options, but in the meantime, we are seeking financial assistance to cover the cost of her prosthetic legs and related medical expenses.
