TA Smith has spent the last 25 years as a site supervisor at Habitat for Humanity, dedicating his life to building homes for families in Charlotte, NC, and even reaching across the globe to build homes in South Korea and Mexico. He also helped raise funds for and construct a school for children in Africa. His hands have built not just houses, but the futures of countless people, always putting others before himself.

TA had planned to build his own home and retire in two years, but unexpected medical challenges forced him to retire early at 65. This sudden change has brought both physical and financial hurdles, making it difficult for him to finish building a simple, decent home on the land he bought prior to his medical challenges. The impact of early retirement along with a handful of medical bills have left him needing a little extra support from the community he’s served so faithfully.

I met TA 25 years ago, and my faith has grown significantly by watching him live into his faith. He has always served as an action-oriented, pray-out-loud, encourage-and-comfort-others-through-prayer kind of person. Now, it’s our turn to lift him up during this time of uncertainty.
