My name is Katie, and this is my sweet boy Syn. Syn is 6 years old, turning 7 in January. Syn was given to me by a wonderful family in February of 2024. I have strived to give him the best life possible while in my care.

Unfortunately, back in December of last year, he had to get a small mass removed from his ear. He has recovered since, but as of the other day, October 21st, things took a turn. He hadn’t used his litter box all day, which, if you don’t know, is a very bad sign for cats, especially male cats. That evening, my good friend Elise who works at the vet came over to feel his bladder. It was full, and he was meowing in pain. He ended up using his litter box afterward, which is a great sign that this is not a blockage.

The next morning, Syn went to the vet for a urinalysis and blood work. The results showed that his calcium levels were very high. This means he may have pancreatitis or kidney disease. Syn needs to be on pain medication and antibiotics for a while, as well as a medicated diet. But he also needs radiographs and an ultrasound to rule out a possible tumor.

I have gone through some major life changes as well. My boyfriend and I broke up, and he has moved out of the apartment. My rent was just raised as well. I am trying to navigate my life now on a single income, and it is extremely difficult. Now, with what is happening with my baby Syn, I need extra help. Anything will help.
