Our boss Sylvia is a sweet, caring, and great person. She is not only a great role model and hardworking leader in the workplace, but like a “work mom” to many of us there as well. I, along with many others, am so lucky and happy to be surrounded by such wonderful people in the workplace we work in, and she makes this all possible every day; to ensure that it doesn’t just feel like a job or work, but somewhere we can really connect with others and feel like somewhat of a family too.
Recently, her and her family have been burdened with her sudden diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer. This has not only impacted her personally, but her finances, family, workplace, etc. We are hoping to help Sylvia through this time so she can get the coverage for her medical bills and surgeries, which may amount to as much as $20,000.
This is a message from our boss Sylvia herself:
Hello, my name is Sylvia and I am 42 years old. I am married and have two beautiful children. I was hit with some unexpected news on September 29th of this year, when I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer. On November 3rd, I will be having a full hysterectomy, and possibly chemotherapy after results come back from pathology. My recovery period is 5-9 weeks, and I will not have any income the first two weeks as I will not be working. My income plays a big part in supporting our household. We own our home and have a mortgage payment, utilities, groceries, children, etc. We do not have a savings, unfortunately, as it has recently gone to support our daughter’s oral surgery. My surgery can cost up to about $20,000, plus all extra medical costs and fees. This will not include chemotherapy if it takes place. I am the main insurance policyholder for me and my family, so I would still need to pay my medical insurance in order to receive any further treatment while I’m not working.
We would love for Sylvia to have a stress-free and speedy recovery after her procedures, and come back as soon as possible. In this time, we’d like to support her as best as we can through her journey, and are hoping to fundraise and spread awareness for her to reach her goal. Thank you.
