For those of you who don’t know our mom Sylvia; she is a nurse who gives everything to everyone else and never asks for anything in return, but right now she is the one in need. She is a loving single mother of 3 and an incredibly special person. She frequently gets standing ovation awards at work because patients go out of their way to praise her and the care she gives them. I have never met a more caring nurse personally and truly feel as though she is one in a million. She is always advocating for her patients and her children and goes above and beyond every single day for others. Additionally, she has struggled with health issues over the past few years that have left her in a very precarious financial situation, and was just starting to get back on her feet with a new position as a nurse at USC. Those of you who do know her I’m sure can attest to how truly unbelievable of a human being she is.
Sylvia has spent the last two weeks in the hospital after an emergency procedure on her pancreas and subsequent complications. This procedure was performed after our mom was following up on a pancreatic cancer scare that we are still in the process of addressing. Unfortunately, due to this, she has been out of work for almost a month and is not cleared to work again until December 10th. Not only are the hospital bills going to be financially devastating, but she drove herself to the hospital unaware she would be admitted, which has led to a large parking bill and her car needing work to get running again. The financial impact from all of this combined is why we are looking for help to get our amazing mom get back on her feet, and to lessen the burden in her time now spent recovering.
It has been a hard past few weeks to say the least and now Sylvia has an infection on top of everything else going on and it is unknown if this will push back the date she is cleared to return to work.
Sylvia is never one to ask for help in this way but we are at a loss in regards to how she will financially and physically recover from this huge setback. Her bills are piling up, and our goal is to make sure our mom continues to have a safe place to heal.
We are asking for help right now with her upcoming bills, getting her car operational, and some of her hospital costs to get her back on her feet.
