Support Sylbie's Journey: Born at 29 Weeks

Donation protected
Update 2/28/2025

Sylbie is still growing stronger. She's over 4 pounds now and they're going to start working on getting her off the the feeding tube. She'll still be in Savannah in NICU for about another 6 weeks. Mommy and daddy are still making weekend trips to visit but it's taking it's toll on them. I can't imagine being 6 hours round trip away from my new born baby. There's been no word on getting into the Ronald McDonald House, they have enough money from previous donations for about another 2 weekends. Every little bit helps. Family and friends have also helped directly. Please donate, pray, and share. Thank you.

Update 2/19/2025

I want to start by thanking everyone for their prayers and contributions. Everything is appreciated and we're moved by the outpouring support.

Sylbie is 4 weeks old today. She weights 3 pounds, 13 ounces. Today she'll get her vision checked so see how her sight is, they're not concerned she's just now old enough for the test.

Sylbie will still remain in Savannah in NICU for about another 7 to 8 weeks. Mommy and daddy are still making the weekend trips which is 6 hours round trip and staying in hotels. They often check with the Ronald McDonald house but with them only having 12 rooms they haven't come up on the list yet. Hotel prices are on the rise in the area because it's getting warmer and Spring break is near.

We're still in need of donations so mommy and daddy can continue at least their weekend visits. Daddy works full time but makes just enough to cover their living expenses at home. Any amount is appreciated and continued prayers are always welcomed.

Thank you.

2/12/2025 Update. Sylbie is still making progress. She had to have a blood transfusion on 2/10/2025 and is doing well. Although her weight fluctuates she bounces back quickly. She's 3 weeks old today making her term 32 weeks. She'll remain in the hospital for about 8 more weeks. Mommy and daddy haven't came up on the list yet for the Ronald McDonald house so they are only able to visit on the weekends staying in a hotel. We're still seeking donations to keep making those visits possible. Although daddy works full time it's just enough to cover their regular bills and living expenses. As mentioned before they live 6 hours round trip from where Sylbie is hospitalized in NICU. If you could help it would be much appreciated and prayers are always welcome. Thank you.

2/7/2025 Update. Sylbie is still making progress. She's lost a little weight but the doctor's aren't concerned. She's taking milk through a feeding tube and keeping it down. She's 2 weeks old now making her term 31 weeks so she's be in NICU in Savannah for roughly 9 more weeks. As mentioned before her mom and dad lives 6 hours away round trip so it's costly to visit with hotel stays, gas, and food. They are on the list for the Ronald McDonald House but there's several people ahead of them. The donations already received will help with a few visits and it's appreciated. Dad does work full time but they also have normal bills as well. If you could help relieve some of their stress and worry any amount is helpful. Also continued prayers are a strong force. Thank you.

UPDATE Sylbie is a little fighter. She's down to 5 on the CPAP and still under the light. She's been getting milk through a tube and not spitting up. She's lost a little weight and is down to 2 pounds 8 ounces. She'll still be in the NICU unit in Savannah and will remain there for at least another 10 weeks. As mentioned before her home is a 6 hour round trip for mommy and daddy to visit. They had to return home on Sunday because daddy has to work. The donations they've received so far will help them go and stay a few nights on the weekends. They are on a list for housing at the Ronald McDonald House but they only have 12 rooms and a lengthy waiting list. Any amount you could donate would help and prayers are always welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

I'm Dawn Rogers (Grandma) and mom to the daddy. On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Sylbie Magnolia Lynn Maldovan made her grand entrance into this world . She was delivered at only 29 weeks, weighing a hefty 2 pounds, 13 ounces, and 15 inches long. She's doing well for only being 29 weeks. If you're a praying person, please say a little prayer for our little Sylbie, her mommy, and daddy. She's in NICU and will be for a while.

Mommy Rachel Bennett and daddy Dominick Maldovan live about 3 hours from where Sylbie will be staying for at least the next 8 to 11 weeks. As you could imagine, the travel and hotel can be expensive, and the heartache for them to not be close to her is deep. But y'all, she's beautiful.

If you could help with any amount to make their travel and stay affordable, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
