Support Syd's Dream with Fiona: A Fiona Fund

My name is Syd Vollendorf and I am an aspiring Equine Professional.

It has been a dream of mine for the longest time to train a horse from the beginning. Fortunately this semester I finally am able to take the course Colts In Training through the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The course is 100 day training based challenge where I get an assigned “colt”. The goal is to train and create a marketable all around equine to auction off at the end of the semester. I knew going to get attached.. I mean who wouldn’t? but I didn’t expect it to be love at First sight.

When I tell you I lost hours of sleep over how excited I was to be able to partake in such a wonderful curriculum. As this semester approached slowly I started to get a gut feeling that it was a girl.

Sure enough it was. Not just a little girl BUT a DRAFT cross filly. She’s the only draft in the lot this year. Those of you that know and for those that don’t. Draft horses are the horses I had all my “firsts on” first trot by myself, first canter, first independent trail ride and even my first blue ribbon was won on a Belgian Mare just like Fiona.

Unfortunately, Week 4 I was in an accident resulting in the breaking of my ankle. As a result, I am boot ridden and need surgery. I’m very heartbroken as I have worked my entire career up to this course and I eat sleep and breathe it. This injury has taken (temporarily) my ability to ride, but most of my scheduled time with Fiona. Which is truly gut wrenching for me. Nevertheless I am trying to stay positive, and I truly believe this horse was assigned to me for a reason.

Fiona is a very inquisitive and smart Draft Filly. Her Demeanor is awesome she has so much potential and she would be an amazing horse to share this beautiful lifestyle, sport with my family and friends which I want nothing more!

Nows here where you guys come into play. As many Horses are not cheap. And I am acknowledging that fully. In addition, Fiona is a GORGEOUS horse with many desirable attributes Feathers, roany coat, long mane and a love bug. And if I do my job correctly, I can imagine she will go for a pretty penny.

I am in no ways shape or form trying to be greedy but I genuinely see a future with Fiona. And I can assure you, she will be deeply loved.

Proceeds of this will go out to her purchase fee and any additional expenses will cover her board, feed, feet and vet bills for the first couple months!
