Send Syd to Joshua!

Hello! My name is Sydney Penner and I am fundraising to help pay for the Joshua Wilderness Institute at Hume Lake. I will be attending starting in September of this year. I had the opportunity this summer to work at Hume Lake in their concessions department, specifically in the coffee shop and it was truly an honor to be on staff up there. Working with a Christ centered community, helping plant seeds in kids hearts as they learn more about the gospel and what it means to follow the Lord was life changing. While I was up there, there was a lot of talk about the Joshua Wilderness program. It is a nine month discipleship school at Hume Lake that involves Biblical classes, getting to hear from different speakers each week, fasting from social media, music, movies/tv and going on international trips while working along side missionaries. Those are just some of the major aspects of the program, we also get to memorize the book of Philippians, grow in community with each other, and overall separate ourselves from distraction and learn the heart of Jesus. I am doing this program solely because God put it on my heart. One of the recruiters sought me out and told me about the program, but I initially said no. I had too much going on at home, and I didn’t believe it was possible. The next day the Lord made it very clear to me that this life I get to live is not planned out by me, my life is fully in His hands, I am not in control. That was enough for me to apply for the program and I immediately got in after my interview. God has made it clear that this is where He has me next and I am listening. Joshua will allow me to work at Hume during the program to help pay off a portion of the tuition so I will be doing the program whether I have the money yet or not. So if you feel comfortable or compelled to donate, that would be so incredibly helpful. Most importantly, it would mean so much to me to be kept in your prayers over the next nine months as I reach the highs and lows of this program. Thank you to those who have impacted my life in multiple ways and supported me through this season of spiritual growth. My community has been such a blessing in my life. It is hard having to leave it for a year, but I feel prepared and ready.
