Support Sydney and Ryleigh's Road to Recovery

On the evening of March 23rd, my daughter, Sydney, and granddaughter, Ryleigh, were involved in a very serious car accident resulting in critical and life-altering injuries. While traveling home along Route 136, Sydney lost control of her vehicle, causing it to flip multiple times. As Sydney lay trapped inside her vehicle waiting for help to arrive, she began to frantically call out for her 7-year-old daughter who had been thrown from the backseat of the vehicle. In and out of consciousness, all she could do was pray. Ryleigh was found some 60 feet away, face down in a field. Sydney required removal via the jaws of life. Both were flown 35 minutes away to John’s Hopkins Hospital with critical injuries.

Ryleigh has suffered a broken collarbone, a liver laceration, and her left leg is broken in 2 places. She keeps saying over and over, “I heard mommy calling me but couldn’t go to her because my leg hurt too much.”

Sydney's injuries include a grade 3 liver laceration, 2 broken ribs, bulging in her carotid artery, and serious injuries to both legs. She was rushed into immediate surgery upon arriving at the hospital as doctors feared she would lose her left leg.

Sydney is a single mother. The accident totaled her vehicle and caused her to be hospitalized in the ICU with multiple injuries to both legs, rendering her unable to stand or walk. She requires various surgeries and intense rehabilitation which will last for many months (surgeons stated recovery will be upwards of a year). As a result of this, she also must take unpaid leave from her job until she’s in a condition to return to work.
