Support Syd, Seth and Arthas on Their Journey to Stability

I'll try to keep this short.

My name is Seth, and I'm homeless with my roomie and furson, Arthas.

We thought we finally had a home after a long hard journey to start our lives over. But it wasn't meant to be.

We've been homeless since January 13th. A series of electrical failures in our rental led to the wiring catching on fire. Though our things haven't been damaged, the Fire Marshal has deemed the home unsafe, and the city won't allow access without a permit. We've been told these can take months, if they happen at all.

Because of this, we've been living out my roommate's car, snagging a few nights here and there in a hotel when we can. Currently, we're sharing an off-grid camper with my roomie's stepfather, as we try to save more money. But with only disability payments for income, and mounting expenses as we try to replace things we've lost, we can't save much. Things like our important documents, dog's medicine and gear, his kennel, and even things like bedding and shoes, as well as our own medicines.

We've applied for assistance through the state we're in, and are continuing to pursue every program we can, but we run into the same problems each time. Apartments have pet weight limits or credit requirements. Application fees are 30-50 dollars per person. Landlords don't get back to us, and our income isn't three or four times the rent, as required. Housing assistance waitlists are long, and the outlook isn't positive.

Both of us have had three homes in the past year, and each of them, we've had to leave for safety reasons. From abusive partners and family, to the fire in our last home, we've spent all our savings just trying to get to somewhere secure. We need help.

Our goal is to save up enough money to buy a camper or RV. After multiple rental situations fell through with little to no recourse but to swallow the cost and leave, we want to have our own home. Even if it's small and mobile, we want a roof over our head and a safe place to sleep at night. This gives us much more ability to save our own limited disability payments, as well. In the long term, our goal is to purchase cheap and - through auction, owner financing, or other means - and join with family to build ourselves something small, but ours. At the end of the day, we just want a home.

So if people help us by sharing and donating. We can get by day by day by the skin of our teeth until we can make this plan a reality.
