Dear Family, Friends, Fans.

Some of you know me as Sybil Holiday, some as Holiday O'Hara. In May I turned 75 & I'm acutely aware that I have many fewer years in front of me than I do behind me.

Some of you have asked what I might like for my birthday. Experiences, especially Spiritual Experiences, are what I collect now, & there is a trip I would particularly like to make. Orr Hot Springs in Ukiah, CA has been the spiritual home of my heart for almost 40 years. I was last there 15 years ago with Bill Henkin. I would like to make one more sacred journey there to seek guidance on what I might best have to offer the world in my final years.

As you may know, I have needed a power wheelchair 24/7 since 2013. The chair I use outside is an amazing rehab chair with the power & the sturdiness to get me through the driveways & over the holes of San Francisco streets & sidewalks. However, it is very large. Too large to fit in a converted taxi & even some converted vans. Plus, it does not disassemble So it has been almost impossible for me to go anywhere that I cannot roll or that San Francisco paratransit can’t take me. For example, I can't go with my friends in their car for a drive down the coast. I can't be with you that way.

I have been blessed with the chance to go to Orr for five days in early August. I need your help to make it happen. I have someone I love and trust who has agreed to drive me and accompany me. Patrick is also a certified nursing assistant who can provide the care I will need.

Yes, there are a few things I need to make this trip possible.

The most significant is a portable electric wheelchair that can be broken down into 4 pieces to fit in a car, or roll into a converted van, & move around Orr Hot Springs easily. Medicare does not cover such things. There are relatively inexpensive other chairs, but my physical condition requires particular support and positioning.

Your gift of this chair would also allow me to be with you. To get in your car, move around the bay area in a wheelchair taxi or a small rented wheelchair van. There is much I have missed even in the city because it is so difficult to get there.

I take great pride in the fact that until recently I have been able to support myself. Reaching out in this way is very difficult for me. But I have been urged to remember that I can turn to my chosen family and friends for support on this journey.

I am seeking $7000 which will cover Orr, the cost of the chair, the rental of a small disability van for a week/gas, food, gratuities, & other incidentals. All gifts go towards the chair first, then the van, then Orr, & then the rest.
