Hello! Many of you know my sweet Dad, Walter Waller. If you don’t, let me tell you more about him. He’s been in ministry helping others since before I was born. He’s known literally by thousands as dad, papa, father Walt, mentor, friend, etc. To know my dad is to love him. He’s kind and selfless, and always makes sure everyone else is taken care of. Even in a hospital bed he’s asking the nurses and doctors if he can do anything for them, or if they want food.. that his daughter would happily get it. LOL
My dad has worked so hard his whole life, not just physically.. but spiritually following the Lord’s plan and helping anyone he can.
He’s always cracking a joke, making up silly songs, making nicknames for whoever he comes in contact with, praying for others and of course nibbling on grandbabies ears.
To know Walter, is truly to love him.
18 weeks ago on New Years Eve he had a GI Fistula rupture out of his stomach. After getting checked out and spending a few days in the hospital, he got to come home with a ostomy bag and plan for returning in 6-8 weeks to go into a surgery to repair it. At this point his organs were too friable, to where it was not safe to perform surgery. The best bet was to heal and come back when he was stronger.. So that’s exactly what we did. 12 weeks later, he went in for a repair, and what was supposed to be a week in the hospital has turned into 6 weeks and counting of a hospital stay. In that time he’s now had three surgeries, 2 procedures in IR, Multiple infections including sepsis, Acute Kidney injury with now daily Dialysis, Pneumonia, RSV, NG tubes, and the list keeps going. He now has both a ileostomy and colostomy bags, and currently we don’t know if he’ll ever be able to get rid of those and have a “normal” life again. He’s been in and out of the ICU, and through all of this he has been nothing but kind, patient, loving, nurturing and trusting that God will pull him out of this. The floors he’s been on all check on him daily, and call him “sweet Walter”.
Through this his biggest request has been that when he leaves the hospital, that he can move in with me, my husband and our two babies on our land. “Life is short and I want to be with my grand babies every day”. So that’s exactly what we will do! We have found a single wide home to place on our land, perfect for my dad and mom to stay and never worry about moving again. My parents need a smaller more manageable space that they can retire in and can focus on healing and being grandparents.
We are hoping after his last surgery two days ago, that he will get to come home in a few weeks. In order to bring him home we need down payments, as well as funds to have water, septic, electric and heating and air ran to their new home.
As of now we are looking at $18,000 just for getting the home on our property, that doesn’t even touch the funds needed for dad’s long recovery. He will need ramps to easily get in and out of their home, as well as medical supplies, therapies etc that insurance doesn’t cover. This has been a long and hard road, and we aren’t close to the end.. but we truly believe that God has a purpose and plan and that his faithfulness will win. We appreciate every single prayer, encouragement, and donation. I’ve watched my entire life, my dad serving everyone else he meets. I’ve seen him give his last dollar to others that need it more. And now he needs our help, so please I’m asking for even a single dollar. And if you can’t donate, that’s okay! But a share and a prayer would mean just as much. Thank you so much, and God bless!
