Hello my name is Dyana and I am fundraising for Lola, an almost three-year-old, sweet, loving girl.
Lola came to me almost three years ago, when I was going through a very hard time. She brought joy, light and strength into my life. She gave me purpose when I felt lost, gave me a reason to go out into the sun (or snow) with her love of the ball, dog parks, and walkies-walkies.
I had no idea I could fall so in love with a dog.
Lola was walking as if she was uncomfortable, couldn’t tell if it was a tummy-ache or something else. On Sunday, April 14 she started crying in pain. She's a quiet girl so it shocked me to hear her howl in pain. I took her to the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon, where she was hospitalized for two days. They gave her pain meds through IV which provided some relief. She was put under anesthesia so a CT scan, spinal fluid and joint fluid could be taken. It was during the CT scan that they found a mass in her chest. It could be infection, it could be cancer. They took a sample with a needle but it was inconclusive.
I work for a local nonprofit with infants and toddlers, and I love what I do, but my income doesn’t allow for a savings. I’ve covered the expenses associated with what was done up to this point, but I don’t have any more to give without being out of rent money. I’ve read how strong a bond between a human and dog can be, but I never understood it until Lola came into my life. She’s made it better in every way. Her silliness and huffs of impatience bring me such happiness. She’s my constant companion, my rock, my emotional support without ever wanting anything but love and treats.
We’re doing antibiotics for four weeks in case it’s an infection. Then she’ll need to be put under anesthesia again so another CT scan can be taken. Depending on what they see (whether the mass has diminished in size) they’ll go in surgically to biopsy and clean out the area as best as possible. They’d go in-between her ribs, a very invasive procedure. She will be hospital for two+ days following the procedure to ensure she recovers from this.
I'm scared, and feel emotionally overwhelmed. She still wants to play with her ball, and her appetite is good. It’s horrible to think I won’t be able to cover her medical bills when she still has a spark, when she still wants to and can live.
Please, anything helps.
