Hello! We're raising funds to help our sweetest girl, Holly. Right after her 8th birthday, she was diagnosed with cancerous masses on her left parathyroid glands. The specialist vet has recommended surgery to remove the affected parathyroid glands, which should effectively remove the cancer. The surgeon has quoted us upwards of $9,000-10,000, which may vary depending on the complexity of the procedure.
The good news is that she has pet insurance. The bad news is that they only cover a limited amount per calendar year. The initial tests and scans to confirm the cancer had already added up to nearly $4,000, leaving us with anticipated out-of-pocket and co-pays on top of the insurance maximum reimbursement of $10,000.
Any donations will go toward covering the out-of-pocket costs, insurance co-pay, follow-up visits, and her recurring medication and supplements that she will need post-op (+indefinitely) as she won't have any insurance coverage again until next January.

Over the last couple of months, we noticed that her thirst had significantly increased along with increased urination. We took her to the vet and got some lab work done, which indicated elevated calcium levels, usually indicating parathyroid dysfunction. We were then referred to a specialist to perform more labs, an ultrasound, and needle biopsies to confirm the presence of cancer. We anxiously awaited the results of those tests and we were informed shortly after her 8th birthday that she did indeed have two cancerous masses on her left parathyroid glands. The good news is that the tumors are removable and the cancer has not metastasized anywhere else.
About a year ago, she also needed to have surgery to fix her TPLO, similar to a human ACL tear, on her left hind leg. After months of slow walks, knee covers, and a careful healing process, we're happy to say she's healed up well and has been able to run around with her tail wagging again.
-- Holly's background --
We adopted her in 2020 (covid foster!), after she was rescued just hours before she was scheduled to be put down at a kill shelter. She had ringworm and mange that formed patches across her entire neck and back. Her original owners were not able to afford the vet costs and had surrendered her to that shelter. Thankfully, she has been clear of both ailments since being rescued, and nearly all her scarring has healed over with new fur.
Born in early 2018, Holly was born the same year Brianna and I got married <3. She will always be our first dog together! She's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet - she'll smother you with licks and sniffs and sit on your lap as if she's sooo tiny (she's like 65lbs lol). We're pretty sure she's a February Pisces.
We now have another doggie rescue, Luci, a chihuahua-pitbull-etc mix that absolutely adores Holly. We also have two rescued cats, Finn and Meep, that pretend not to care about the dogs but definitely brush up against Holly and lay next to her when they get a chance.
