Support SWAT Safety: Replace Unsafe Helmets

The Washington Regional SWAT Team is a local nonprofit [501-C3] who serve the people of Washington County. Additionally, we have assisted in critical incidents in Allegheny County, Beaver County and Butler County through Region 13 mutual aid agreements. We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of the residents and businesses of Washington County and our neighboring Counties.

With the ever-changing world, there has been a rise in both violent crime and assaults on Law Enforcement Officers. The Washington Regional SWAT Team is constantly evolving to keep its team members and the residents of Washington County safe and secure.

That’s where you come in. In order to maintain a high level of professionalism and public safety the Washington Regional SWAT Team lacks essential tools needed to keep the Officers safe while handling the critical incidents of Washington County. We need your help to achieve our current goals.

It has been brought to our attention that our current ballistic safety helmets that all the Officers wear to protect their head from gunfire has a deficiency. It has been proven that our current ballistic helmets fail to stop the Officer from almost certain death if struck with a normal powered 9mm pistol round. The 9mm round will defeat the outer shell and deform the inner ballistic protection causing severe injury to the officer wearing the helmet. So, we are now in a rush to find funding to change out our current helmets for the new safe helmets. The total cost of the project is $56,940. That project cost outfits just our operators. It does not include our 5 tactical medics and 3 armor vehicle drivers. If the future allows, we would like to get their helmets replaced as well at an additional cost of $15,184.
