Dear Friends of Suzy—
Let’s ease the financial burden for Suzy Bibona as she faces the unexpected expense of surgery for her dog Betty, scheduled for Monday July 18th. As we know, Suzy always shows up for her friends in a myriad of ways, often involving chicken soup, an amazing vegan dessert, dog care in a pinch, or a very present listening ear. Right now is a perfect opportunity to show Suzy that her endless mitzvahs do not go unnoticed and that generosity of spirit will circle back around in times of need.
The back story on Betty: She’s been limping for a couple of weeks. Licking her toe. A week ago Suzy thought perhaps the nail was infected and started soaking it. Then the nail burst open and it seemed antibiotics would be prudent. At Sunny Brae Animal Clinic, Dr. Reynolds said it was a “toe tumor” and scheduled Betty for immediate toe amputation. This is not a weight-bearing toe, so Betty should be able to walk just fine without it. However, there is always the chance that this tumor is cancer.
Financial support will aid Suzy in navigating the best choices for Betty’s quality of life and not need to consider cutting corners to save on costs. (For example, getting a biopsy is an additional $345 that could be skipped, but would add peace of mind and guide decision-making to know the facts.)
Please join me in showing Suzy that she can count on her community to show up in times of need. Donate here or directly to Suzy if preferred.
And let’s send our collective good thoughts to Betty as she undergoes this anesthesia, surgery, and recovery. ~carlisle
