You've probably been given a hug by her, had the privilege of her remembering your birthday, or received a pan of her brownies. Maybe you connected with her around a group gathering. You know what I mean when I say Suzi (Mimi/Mimi Suzi) gives so selflessly and regards her loved ones in thoughtful ways I can't even name.
On September 5, 2024, Suzi was diagnosed with a brain mass and underwent emergency brain surgery. Unfortunately, that mass was the result of metastatic melanoma. Prior to surgery, Suzi was working full-time. She lived alone and helped care for many others in a variety of ways. Following surgery, Suzi has been fighting to regain the use of the right side of her body and is currently undergoing treatment for the cancer that has spread to her brain.
Her daughter and son-in-law have lovingly welcomed her into their home. They have made many structural changes to their home to help make it more comfortable and safe to care for Suzi. Additionally, the family has purchased equipment to help care for her. We are also working together to provide care for her, but we require some assistance with caregivers during the hours that we work (all of us work full-time) as well.
If you are in a position to help, Suzi could use assistance to help cover the additional costs associated with her medical care. Cancer care is very expensive. Additional funds will be used to help cover caregiver assistance during any hours that we are working and any additional equipment that may help make Suzi more comfortable or independent.
