Support Sustainable Farming in Ghana
Donation protected
As a student from California studying abroad in Ghana, I have seen firsthand the need for knowledge and practice of organic agriculture to support healthy food systems. Mr. Green is working to create an NGO in Greater Accra, Ghana, dedicated to teaching natural organic agriculture and permaculture through tangible, hands-on learning. By partnering with local schools and communities, this initiative will provide students with practical experience in sustainable farming techniques, aiming to inspire a new generation to see the value in agriculture as a viable and rewarding path.
The focus is on revitalizing interest in farming to re-echo the need for the youth to accept and appreciate agriculture as a roadmap for success, which is dwindling among Ghana’s youth, while fostering environmental stewardship and food safety and security. Water is the backbone of agriculture, and access to a reliable water source is essential for growing crops, caring for livestock, and sustaining life.
To achieve this vision, we need six poly tanks to capture and store rainwater. These tanks will ensure consistent water availability, accessibility, and affordability at no cost, which will enable year-round farming, better yields, and sustainable livestock care. Each poly tank (i.e., Poly tank of "3-layers 10,000 liters") costs 11,640 cedi or about $743.55 US dollars. In total, this would be $4,461.30 for the poly tanks. There is also a need for more tools so that students can get engaged, which would be another $574. So in total, we are asking for $5,035.
With your support, we can empower Ghana’s youth, strengthen local communities, and demonstrate that agriculture is not only a cornerstone of life but also a pathway to a sustainable future. All donations will go towards the purchase of the polytank and tools. Thank you!
