Hers’s the problem: Homelessness in America is rapidly increasing
Being homeless in the United States is an ever-increasing problem with over 771,480 people being homeless in 2024. This was an 18% increase in the homeless from 2023 to 2024.
Among the homeless is a growing number of veterans, with over 32,500 veterans becoming homeless in 2024.
The fact that over 771,000 are homeless and with over 32,500 of them being veterans is something that has long been neglected. The homeless are in need of help.
The goal of Helping The Homeless In Need is a project to help ensure that the homeless will have reliable access to good food, clean water, shelter, protection from the environment, and access to a safe place.
We have an opportunity to come together to help the homeless in this critical time of need for them.
Exposure to the Elements: The homeless are exposed to the elements every day and are severely affected by catastrophic weather events, such as heat waves, air pollution, severe floods and storms. Due to the exposure to these harsh and deadly environmental factors the homeless are at an increased risk of danger and death due to their exposure to the elements.
Because of their exposure to the elements the homeless have to seek shelter outside; usually under freeways, in forests and other public places. The homeless are at an increased risk of danger from being injured or killed.
Mortality Rate: The mortality rate of the homeless in the United States is increasing every year with 7,877 homeless deaths in 2024 alone. This is a trend that has to be addressed.
Lack of Basis Needs: The Homeless do not have; or are lacking some the following basic needs
• Adequate food
• Safe water to drink
• Shelter
• Good clothes
• Security
• Stability
• Freedom from fear
• Financial security
• Self-respect
These needs are something that the homeless experience on a daily basis and they need our help. The homeless also experience a sense of hopelessness, depression and a lack of confidence in themselves.
Our Goal: Our goal is to help as many of the homeless as possible.
