Hi friends,
I’m helping raise support for my close friend Susie, a wife, a nurse, a new mom to her one-year-old son Crosby, and someone who never asks for help. So I’m asking for her.
She was just diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), a type of breast cancer, after her very first routine mammogram. She’s 35. And yes, that’s young.
This was supposed to be the year she graduated with her master’s, kept building her career, and tried for baby #2. Instead, she’s now facing:
2–3 major surgeries in the next 6 months
Possible radiation, chemo, or medically induced menopause
A positive BRCA2 gene mutation (aka: increased risk for breast, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers...more scans, more surgeries, more everything)
Fertility preservation so she has the option of more biological kids one day, even though her cancer is estrogen and progesterone positive (which makes pregnancy risky)
Oh, and she’ll be out of work as a nurse for 3 to 6 months.
She won’t say it, but I will: she needs help.
Here’s where you come in:
Every dollar raised will go toward:
Surgery, scans, biopsies, meds, and PT
Fertility preservation
Childcare for Crosby
Food on the table
Keeping their life as normal as possible while she fights cancer
If you can give anything, thank you. If not, you can still help:
Set up a playdate with Crosby. Drop off a meal. Send a prayer or a meme. Leave a note on the doorstep. It all matters.
Susie has spent her life taking care of everyone else. Now it’s our turn to take care of her.
Thank you for helping her feel held during the absolute last thing she thought she’d be doing this year.
