This fundraiser is for our wonderful sister Susie Smith Borne, who is a lifelong resident of Grundy County, Tennessee, and her husband Lorne, as they are currently struggling due to a recent diagnosis of cancer (Susie) and a heart condition (Lorne).

Susie was diagnosed in July with Stage 3 low-grade Follicular Lymphoma. Follicular Lymphoma is cancer in the lymph nodes. It is a slow-growing cancer and has a good chance of being treatable with chemotherapy.

She will start chemo treatments on August 12th and continue that for six months in hopes of remission. As you can imagine, this came as a shock to her, her loving husband Lorne, and the rest of her family!

Her current plan is to work as much as she can so that she can hopefully keep her medical insurance. Her company has been very supportive and is willing to let her work as she is able.

All of this is a major financial strain on Susie and Lorne, as in addition to the massive costs of tests and cancer treatment (Yes! The bills are already coming to her house! And they are just getting started!!!), Lorne has been unable to work due to his heart condition following triple bypass surgery.

He has applied for disability, but they have no idea how long it will take for him to receive help, or if the government will help him at all…

With growing medical bills, anticipated missed workdays due to treatment, and all of their savings depleted, we are asking friends, family, and even kind and generous strangers to consider donating to help these wonderful people.

Susie and Lorne are two of the most humble, kind, and thoughtful people we know, and they are most appreciative of any donation that you feel moved to give. Even if it’s a prayer or word of encouragement.
